May 2011

A weird month this. A lot of changes going on in my life, and in my art! I'm attempting to move forward with the MATRIX series and so far seem to have wandered into Frank Stella terriotory. I don't think this is really working. Best put it to one side for a while. Time for a rethink.

Un mese strano questo. Un sacco di cambiamenti in corso nella mia vita, e nella mia arte! Sto cercando di andare avanti con la serie MATRIX e finora sembrano aver vagato in Frank Stella terriotory. Io non credo che questo stia realmente lavorando. Meglio che mettere da parte per un po '. Tempo per un ripensamento.

Often getting lost is the best way of finding yourself. It's a bit of a journey that can be unsettling at the time, but can provide wonderful new vistas and possibilities.

Somehow I can't help thinking of the journey in the film '2001: A Space Odessy. What a trip!

This kind of reminds me of Antoni Gaudi as well.

Introduction

Welcome to my Studio blog. I was born in the UK but now live in northern Italy.

In 2010 I realised that I needed a bigger studio and a more professional environment. My studio at home gave me fine views across the Italian countryside, with vineyards stretching as far as the eye could see, but this was a constant distraction and I realised I had to become more focused if I was to continue my work as an artist.

Searching the internet for such an environment brought me to London, which still was, in my view, the centre of the western art world. Further searches and visits to studios led eventually to Second Floor Studios & Arts (SFSA) in Woolwich and in December 2010 I moved into the studio that was the original subject of this blog.

However, success in selling my work in Italy rather than in the UK, has given me an opportunity to rethink my situation. It looks like I shall be giving up my London base in the near future and re-establishing a studio in Italy.

If you want to look at my art I suggest you look at my art blogs which are listed in the links bar. The purpose of this blog is to share with you the trials and tribulations of studio practice. The problems an artist can face in his attempt to produce work that is both true to himself and understood in the art world.

Benvenuti nel mio blog Studio. Sono nato in Gran Bretagna, ma ora vivo nel nord Italia.

Nel 2010 mi sono reso conto che avevo bisogno di uno studio più grande e un ambiente più professionale. Il mio studio a casa mi ha dato una bella vista sulla campagna italiana, con vigneti che si estendono a perdita d'occhio, ma questa è stata una distrazione costante e ho capito che dovevo diventare più mirata se dovevo continuare il mio lavoro come artista.

Cercando su internet per tale ambiente mi ha portato a Londra, che era ancora, a mio avviso, il centro del mondo dell'arte occidentale. Ulteriori ricerche e visite agli studi ha portato, infine Studios Second Floor e arti (SFSA) a Woolwich e nel dicembre 2010 mi sono trasferito in studio che è stato oggetto originale di questo blog.

Tuttavia, il successo nella vendita il mio lavoro in Italia, piuttosto che nel Regno Unito, mi ha dato l'opportunità di ripensare la mia situazione. Sembra che sarò rinunciare la mia base di Londra nel prossimo futuro e ristabilire uno studio in Italia.

Se si vuole guardare la mia arte vi consiglio di guardare i miei blog d'arte che sono elencati nella barra dei collegamenti. Lo scopo di questo blog è quello di condividere con voi le prove e le tribolazioni di uno studio di registrazione. I problemi di un artista in grado di affrontare nel suo tentativo di produrre un lavoro che sia fedele a se stesso e compreso nel mondo dell'arte.
